In Utah’s Canyons School District, classrooms are riddled with a patchwork of legacy hardware, aging VGA wall plates, and ad-hoc upgrades made over years of incremental improvements. As new laptops replaced desktops and HDMI-only devices became the norm, teachers and technology staff needed a reliable, repeatable way to connect modern classroom equipment to existing displays and projection systems.

Still, across the district, upgrades occur on an as-needed basis, making standardization a challenge.

The district had been purchasing low-cost HDMI extender products online. As upgrade requests mounted, however, they ran into familiar scaling challenges: inconsistent stock, limited performance assurance, and procurement rules that prevented large-scale purchasing on a credit card. They needed a standardized solution, one they could roll out on a flexible schedule, classroom by classroom, and rely on for years.

That’s when the district’s AV lead, Grant Taylor, reached out to long-time partner WEBB Integration.

WEBB Integration, now in its 70th year as an AV integration and staging company, had supported the district on small emergency needs and fast-turn requests for years. When the district needed help identifying a modern, scalable classroom connectivity solution, WEBB Integration stepped in.

After reviewing the district’s needs and the limitations of their existing online-sourced gear, WEBB Integration sales engineer Chris Webb turned to Vanco. Vanco’s support validated the partnership in a tangible way: WEBB’s consultative work identifying the right solution didn’t become free research for a lowest-bid competitor.

With pricing secured and approval granted, the district placed an order of approximately 150 Vanco EVWP3000 units. Rather than deploy everything at once, the district adopted a phased refresh model:

  • Units are stored centrally and deployed as classrooms receive upgrades.
  • Installation is handled in-house by the district’s own AV/IT personnel.
  • Additional units now travel with techs in work vans for same-day problem resolution.

This staged deployment model gives the district a standardized, repeatable classroom technology platform that’s flexible enough to align with budget cycles, construction schedules, and equipment refresh timelines.

Since installation began, the district has reported zero device failures and no installation challenges. In fact, according to Webb, the silence speaks volumes:
